Songwriting: In this episode Joe describes how, through the use of pedal tones, the sound,  directional pull, and overall effect of the chords you choose for your songs will be greatly enhanced.  In turn, this technique will elevate the melody and the song as a whole. Altering the sound-color of a chord can be extremely useful in supporting the emotional impact of certain lyrics.

Hi everyone, this next work in the series  for guitar and various instruments features a dialogue between 2 Guitars.  In this composition I feature what I believe is the most important compositional technique in all genres of music -  "Repetition and repetition with variation". In addition the use of petal tones and drones , notes sustained or repeated under the middle or above the music. The third technique highlighted is the Ostinato - A phrase motive riff repeated over and over creating an hypnotic force  a foundation on which all else is built - think of Stravinsky, Schoenberg, every heavy metal song -  actually all styles of music.
