Spilling the Tea on Travel welcomes back Ms. Sabrina Liu who joins Ms. Shawn Dillard as our Season 2 co-host!
In the first episode of the season Shawn and Sabrina have an in-depth discussion with the University of South Alabama's (a.k.a South) first Fulbright Scholar-In-Residence. They also give insight on the institution's recently awarded Increase and Diversify Education Abroad (IDEA) grant sponsored by the Department of State. Shawn, during her 2021-2022 term as interim director for the Office of International Education worked in coalition with departments across campus, community members and international partners and successfully won both awards on behalf of the university.
This episode gives our listeners an overview of the goals of each award independently as well as how they build off of one another. Our guests: South's Fulbright S-I-R Dr. Dieudonné Gnammankou from the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin, his academic host, Dr. David Messenger (Chair-Department of History), as well as Professor Kimberly Pettway (Professor of Social Work) share their vision of how these joint efforts will benefit the university community and beyond (hint: travel opportunities to West Africa for the university community and for YOU are discussed)!
P.S. While unable to invite everyone to discuss their contributions to the S-I-R and/or IDEAS process STTOT would like to give special thanks and appreciations to: Dr. Kern Jackson, Dr. Delisa Johnson, Dr. Marsha Hamilton, Ms. Angela Jordan, Dr. Doug Marshall, Ms. Suely Neves, Ms. Jan Santos, Dr. Joel Billingsley, Ms. Kristi Clayton, Dr. Karen Peterson, Dr. Kathy Cooke, Dr. Kathy Thompson, Dr. Raj Chaudhury, Dr. Lisa LaCrosse, Dr. Christine Rinne and Dr. Richard Carter.
