Hello everyone and welcome to the Captain’s Coach Podcast. I’m your host Luke Poulos and today my guest is Coach Joe White. Coach White is currently an assistant coach for both the Baseball and Football teams of Thunder Ridge High School in Colorado. He was actually one of the original planning committee members for the high school when it was founded and he started the baseball program where he was the head coach for over twenty years. He is a teacher in the school as well and is active member on multiple boards and committees. Coach White has years of wisdom and I can’t wait for you all to hear what he has to say. Today we talk about the leadership council at Thunder Ridge, the importance of focusing on the long term goals of athletics, the challenges of leading and coaching in today’s specialized and individualized sports environment, and some really great ways to empower team captains and leaders, especially at the high school level.
