Please listen to NOAA Weather Radio or go to weather. gov on the Internet for more information about the following hazards. Heat Advisory. Days two through seven. Monday through Saturday. Heat Wave: A prolonged period of record to near-record temperatures is expected across the area through at least the middle of next week. High temperatures will be near 100 degrees each afternoon with heat indices reaching or exceeding 105 degrees away from the immediate coast, especially through into Memorial Day. Heat Advisories may be needed. Spotter information statement. Spotter assistance is not anticipated at this time.

Urgent - weather message. Heat advisory in effect from 11 am this morning to 8 pm Eastern Daylight Time this evening. The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Heat Advisory, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 8 PM Eastern Daylight Time this evening. Heat index values. High temperatures in the upper 90s to around 103 degrees combined with moderate humidity will produce heat indices of 103 to 107 degrees away from the immediate coast this afternoon. Impacts. The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor activities. Precautionary/preparedness actions. If you must be outdoors, drink plenty of fluids, wear light weight clothing and stay out of direct sunshine. In addition, know the signs of heat illnesses and be sure to check on those who are most vulnerable to the heat such as young children and the elderly. Look Before You Lock. DO NOT leave children or pets unattended in a hot vehicle. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency - call 9 1 1.
