Dr. David Silkenat is the Senior Lecturer in American History at the University of Edinburgh and an expert on the Civil War. He also co-hosts The Whiskey Rebellion podcast with Dr. Frank Cogliano, also a professor at the University of Edinburgh. Silkenat's works include, Driven from Home: North Carolina's Refugee Crisis (UGA, 2016), Moments of Despair: Suicide, Divorce, and Debt in Civil War North Carolina (UNC, 2011), and most recently, Raising the White Flag: How Surrender Defined the Civil War (UNC, 2019).
