How might we nurture a community of learners, where making thinking visible is safe, even when students make a mistake? In this session, we will consider norm setting, questioning, and listening, as well as strategies, routines, and tasks to jump start conversations that encourage students to take risks and contribute to effective discussions.

Recorded November 2019. Both Jennifer and Liz work at Illustrative Mathematics. Jennifer Tweets at @JWilson828 and blogs at https://easingthehurrysyndrome.wordpress.com/. Liz Tweets at @LizRamirez. Also mentioned in the podcast was the story of Roger Penrose's struggles as a young student.
