Talk Ya Ish |Ep 43| The N Word

Listen Later

N*^#@   I’m definitely part of the new vernacular in a different way than it came into this language we have today.   I wanna open this saying. I’m not defending the use of the word. I understand why it shouldn’t be used. But being a 26 year old black male. The word has two meanings and always has for me and even has to be said in a certain manner in order for Myself to feel any way.  I feel intent is 9/10 of the law   Even at times I’m not even phased because of your lack of depth. There’s so many more hurtful things to say to people now a days. But you’d rather show your card by referring to a black person which your literal existence to date is because of, its really quite sad.   It’s bad enough as black people we are confused. But we’re letting people control how we maneuver just because of a word we know they’re using to try and get to us, mind you that we’ve also already introduced into the normalcy of regular conversation.   I’m not defending the use of the word. But in my 26 years the connotation has been changed. So much so it’s more so intent behind the word as if any other curse word. So I understan both sides. It’s been said it’s going to keep being said. But we can’t let it have its control as it’s had with the original programming.   Saying that word use to bring people back to a dark time, And to many it still does. But we have to react better. We are too smart to let a word used by a persons tiny ego trying its last Hail Mary to get to you.   The only reason I feel I shouldn’t defend the word is because it’s ridiculous. Why do people want to say it so bad. So much so they’ll claim to be part of a cultural group none of their family participated in.   “You’re Afro Whatever does your parent know?”  Is so funny to me. Defend us, celebrate with us, hurt with us. Don’t just claim a culture to say a word. A negative word at that.   But the realistic side to me is just always at the forefront, people will do and say what they want, you just better be ready for the consequences.   As black people we are strong. Stop letting something that’s already normalized take your strength! It’d be a perfect word if we kept the same feeling about the word as any other racial slur. But it isn’t the case. But what we could do is educate. Educate and give those the choice to maneuver how ever their life allows them.
