On Episode 106 of The Tennis Files Podcast, I spoke with tennis coach and positive youth development expert Dr. Peter Scales about the keys to improving our mental and emotional abilities so that we can become better tennis players.

Dr. Scales has written a fantastic new book, Mental and Emotional Training for Tennis, which dives into the top principles we must develop in our junior players so that they can not only be great tennis players, but also great people.

Dr. Scales is the head JV tennis coach for girls and boys at Parkway South High in Manchester Missouri, and has been there since 2008. He received his Doctorate in child and family studies from Syracuse University. Dr. Scales is also a USPTA-certified tennis teaching pro and is certified as a Double-Goal Coach by the Positive Coaching Alliance. He is internationally recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities on positive youth development, has conducted research studies in more than 30 countries, and published more than 200 scholarly articles chapters and books.
