For thus says the LORD: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. Jeremiah 29:10

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth the LORD God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah. Ezra 1:1-2

There was a 70 year prophecy clock ticking during the time of Daniel, Ezra and Nehemiah. As they got close to the end of that 70 year timeline, Daniel understood that if he and his people were going to return to Israel and Jerusalem, that the pre-requisite was for them to repent. It was their sin of idolatry that got them kicked out of the land into exile. And, to return to the land, they needed to "come clean", turn away from idols, and return to the God of Israel and to his Torah.

What are the 70 weeks of Daniel? What is a “week”? We will look at the first 70-year Babylonian exile in the time of Daniel. How did Daniel decode the scriptures to figure out when his own exile would end? We will seek to understand Daniel’s method of calculation for knowing when his exile would end. We will then apply this same method of calculation for understanding when our exile will end today. How close ARE we to the end of our exile?

Part 2 shows us how the 70 week/70 year prophecy was fulfilled a second time during the time of Messiah Yeshua/Jesus Christ.
