"Uncultured Swine" is a light-hearted examination of American stereotypes, particularly as they pertain to foreign countries. Each episode features Cal, the host of the show, and a guest from the stereotyped group, discussing several common American stereotypes, their validity, whether they appropriately represent their culture, etc. The podcast shows that if you create meaningful relationships with people, uncomfortable topics can be broached in an educational and respectful way.
Episode 1 of “Uncultured Swine” looks at American stereotypes about Mexico. The episode's guest is José Dávila, a Mexican man living in Juárez and a close friend of Cal's. The two discuss tacos, Mariachi music, drug cartels, and other American stereotypes about Mexico. José was proud of the image of Mexico portrayed by certain stereotypes, not so much by others, but we talked about it all.
