“The Border is Closed” – How the DHS Secretary is Tackling the Migrant Surge

As the migrant surge at the U.S. southern border intensifies, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is defending the Biden administration’s border policies and asserting that “the border is closed.” Meanwhile, sources report that the number of unaccompanied minors crossing the border now in government custody exceeds 14,000. Fox News Correspondent Steve Harrigan joins us from the U.S.-Mexico border to discuss the spike in border crossings he is seeing, what border policies have changed and the difficult situation placed on border patrol and families fleeing the violence of their native countries.

 

More people are reporting mental health problems during the coronavirus pandemic. Some have lost their loved ones, their jobs or opportunities. For others, it could be the isolation that has lasted for a year into the pandemic. Twenty one percent of Americans say they're experiencing high levels of psychological distress, according to a Pew Research survey out this week. Now, some of that depression and anxiety will lift when people get vaccinated, and the outbreak is over. For others, though, some of those mental health problems may linger. Dr. Jennifer Ashton, author of "The New Normal: A Roadmap to Resilience in the Pandemic Era" discusses her new book, mental health during the pandemic, plus the stress and anxiety that will come with returning to normalcy .
