As we talk about the importance of being a Jesus-follower who is “likeable,” it may seem to contrast with another idea: that students shouldn’t care what others think. In this phase, students are often looking for black and white answers, which can lead them to wonder: “Which is it?” Be likeable or don’t care what people think? When these kinds of tensions come up, lead your students toward the understanding that the answer is, in a way, both.
