Episode 12: The Costliness of Forgiveness
Series: Week 3 – Satisfaction (Justice & Mercy)
In this episode of The Encouraging Word, Pastor Eric reflects on the reality that forgiveness is never cheap. Drawing from Scripture and the Satisfaction tradition, this devotional explores how reconciliation requires a cost—one that cannot simply be ignored or dismissed.
Rather than demanding payment from humanity, God in Christ bears the weight of restoration Himself. Forgiveness is costly because love is costly. And in Jesus, we see that God willingly absorbs what would otherwise destroy us, opening the way for healing and reconciliation.
Scripture:Matthew 18:21-35
Series Focus:Satisfaction teaches that reconciliation involves real cost, and that God Himself bears that cost in Christ.
Music:Bumper music: “Mercy Flows” (original instrumental composition, 2006)
Encouraging Word for Today:Forgiveness is costly—but God has chosen to bear that cost in love.
