This reflection traces Advent back to its true beginning—not the manger, but the garden. In humanity’s first rebellion, God announces the first gospel: a coming child who will crush the serpent and undo the curse. Even amid judgment, God clothes Adam and Eve and begins a rescue plan that will be fulfilled in Jesus, the “second Adam.” Advent invites us to hope not because the world is tidy, but because God steps into our deepest mess with a promise of restoration.
