Ep 82: The Innocence Files (Netflix) - Giona Jefferson, “It’s really about making rich content that can last”

Giona Jefferson is a producer and writer who has been a key player in the development and production of hundreds of hours of non-fiction television and audio series. Her work includes The Innocence Files (Netflix), The Wilderness, an audio doc hosted by former President Barack Obama's speech writer, Jon Favreau, Talking Dead, Ink Master, and Beat Bobby Flay. Among several projects in development she is producing her first short film, Constructs, which explores her own complexities growing up amidst the shadows of the confederacy in Richmond, Virginia. ​Prior to her career in media, Giona was a Legal Assistant at the U.S. Department of Justice, and a community advocate for formerly incarcerated citizens and low-income families in Washington, D.C. She draws upon her versatile experiences to curate stories that explore the gray areas of humanity.​She holds an M.A. from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study with a concentration in Cultural Politics and Film; and is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Howard University with a B.A. in Communication and Culture.
