This pillar is a stone monument telling the story of a gruesome murder of William Jackson that took place here in 1751. It’s a murder that would have been lost to time if not for this stone and the story of the aftermath.

Old Bet was part of one of America’s earliest circuses, and if not for the tiny memorial along Route 4, her legend may be lost forever.
