Every week we’ll take a look at all the gifts and cultural moments that the year 1999 gave us. For the first installment of our new series, actor Steve Zahn and Stephan Paternot, (at 32:56) the co-founder of TheGlobe.com (which was the first social networking site before Facebook), joins us to discuss the new National Geographic series, “Valley of the Boom,” which premieres on January 13. This series tells the true inside story of the internet’s fascinating formative years, including the story of Pixelon founder, Michael Fenne (played by Zahn), a convicted con man who was propping up his company with elaborate lies and a technology that didn’t work.
