It's the final of the G1 Climax 2017 as last year's winner Kenny Omega faces the 2013 winner, and the man he defeated in the previous year's Block B final, Tetsuya Naito. Omega is coming in hot having finally defeated Kazuchika Okada the previous night. Naito is also in a better frame of mind, defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi two nights earlier and exorcising whatever demon he had left from losing the IC belt to Tanahashi two months earlier.
