The Niching That You're Ignoring For Your Podcast

Listen Later

If you really want to grow, niche down. But what is one overlooked aspect of niching down that people don't consider? And how can we leverage this? Believe it or nuts, niching down opens so many doors. While some people freak out about niching down, it actually can be the ticket to really grow your business and your podcast quickly.

In this episode, we cover:

  • What the missing element is to your niching down
  • How this can help you to sharpen your message and get clients easier
  • Use this method to get speaking engagements and another revenue stream

Show Notes:

One overlooked aspect of "Niching Down" is geography.

We are wired to think that we can get millions of customers online. That our audience will grow to 100,000 if we just keep pumping out podcast episode after episode. History has proven time and again that this just isn't happening. The days of "Build it and they will come" are long since over.

How can we start to grow our podcast? How can we make our podcast relevant?

That is all about geography.

While it may be true that you can help every woman, every where on every continent ... most entrepreneurs do not have the financial war chest to be able to reach every woman, everywhere on every continent. Coca Cola does. They have billions to spend.

Do you have billions to spend?

There's an old adage that comes to mind. And a question to ask of you.

Would you rather be a small fish in a huge pond? Or big a big fish in a small pond?

The chances of you reaching 1,000 loyal fans is much higher in your geographic region than it is to keep casting your net on the billions of people on the internet every single day.

Now is to say that you don't serve someone outside your geographic region?

Absolutely not! If you're podcast focuses on Long Beach, California ... you never know if someone from Myrtle Beach, North Carolina will love your podcast because they have family in Long Beach. They love to visit Long Beach. They have a blast every single time they go!

Again, when you niche down you can further explore those issues that are plaguing your ideal customer avatar.

Because your avatar might care (a lot!) about the local events that are happening. Local political issues. Or re-zoning. Or the new restaurant that opened up.

Gary Vaynerchuk said this back in 2015. That's the first time I heard it. He said, "You need to be the digital mayor of your town." He didn't say of your continent. Or of the world. He said "Of your town."

Because I'll be you dollars to donuts that your ICA is located within your geographical area.

And once you accept this, why not start seeking out speaking opportunities? Join the local chamber. Start networking with the strong local presence.

Use your podcast to start building strategic connections.
