Members Reviews:
Classic melodic rock!
Boulevard were a melodic rock band from Canada and this is the Majestic Rock Records reissue of their second album Into The Street. Boulevard's music is a blend of strong songwriting and excellent musicianship with good quality production and killer vocals. The end result of this mix was a classic album of high quality melodic rock similar in style to Toto, Tim Feehan, Neverland, and early Richard Marx. Highlights include the opening song "Talk To Me", the melodic rocker "Lead Me On", the blissful sound of "Eye Of The Hurricane", the strong power ballad "Crazy Life", and the awesome playing in "Where Are You Now". Into The Street is a good example of what happens when everything comes together for a band and it's a shame that Boulevard faded so soon after the release of this album. Into The Street is definitely a melodic rock classic and is essential listening for fans of this style of music.
A must have!
I'm writing this review just to let you know that If you are a fan of classic 80's AOR then this is a must have. This band has a unique sound, crisp and clear vocals, full of melodic harmonies and great musicianship. Actually you must also own their first album, that one is more keyboard oriented as "into the streets" is more guitar oriented. Make no mistake, you won't regret it, both albums define what AOR really is. All songs are great, no fillers, but my favorite is "Crazy Life", man what a great song, go to YouTube and check the promo video of this song, it's just pure classic AOR breeze with great melodic moments. Too shame these guys from Canada didn't get what they deserved and only lasted 2 albums after quitting all thanks to the grunge wave, but I least we can still hear them today with these re-issues. Get both albums really.
Great Follow Up Album, An Essential Album For Fans Of 80s And Early 90s Rock
You can tell the band hit the ground running on their second offering. It's a powerful album, featuring quite a few good songs. The recording quality has improved as well. Still, there's something about their first album, and their earlier works from Germany, that speak to me on a deeper level. If you're into 80s rock laced with a little synth, or early 90s rock, this album should definitely be added to your collection.
Popular AOR master-class!!!
"Into the street" is the second album by Canadian AOR band "Boulevard" originally released in 1990, reissued in 2010 by "Metal Mind Productions". The line up has remained fairly consistent since their 1988 debut, featuring lead singer David Forbes, guitarist Randy Gould, keyboardist Andrew Johns, saxophonist Mark Holden plus the new rhythm section of Tom Christiansen and Randall Stoll.
Technically "Into the street" provided a considerable departure from the sound of their debut "Blvd".
