The United States Coronavirus Death Toll Has Surpassed 94,000

A study suggests a 7-day average show 17 states with an increase in new reported cases compared to nine states on the rise the week before. Another study suggests that 36,000 lives could have been saved if the United States lockdown happened one week earlier. Trump responds to the study, calling the study a "political hit job." 

Trump defied rules and CDC recommendations when he refused to wear a mask during Michigan visit. Trump says he doesn't want to wear a mask in front of cameras because he doesn't want to give the press "the pleasure" of seeing him in one. 

Mayor of Montgomery, Alabama says "If you need an ICU bed, you are in trouble" amid the coronavirus outbreak in Alabama. The mayor says hospitals in Montgomery are overstretched.  A new model predicts coronavirus case spikes in some states that reopened earlier, especially in the south. CDC director warns of coronavirus second wave later this year. 

Miami and Houston school districts weight plans for Fall reopening as model warns of coronavirus case spikes in cities. Another model warns that cities with some of the country's biggest school districts are in danger of case spikes.  

Nearly 40 million people have filed for unemployment since mid-March.
