Today, however, hunger, conflict, and greed dominate. True wisdom lies in using intellect to discern right from wrong and acting accordingly. When wisdom and politics unite, peace flourishes. In ancient times, kings were guided by selfless Raja Gurus, and prosperity followed—rains blessed the land, and people thrived. Now, only farmers await rain, but unless the earth is cooled and nourished, harvests fail and hunger persists. Spiritual truth cannot reach a hungry person; first, hunger must be removed.
Despite abundance, poverty and begging remain visible. If India’s wisdom and politics were to unite again, harnessing the nation’s harvest, hunger across the world could be eradicated. In the past, this union made the land heavenly; it must happen again for peace to return. Even one pure-hearted person can invoke rain, but today we lack the purity to pray wholeheartedly for world peace.
Traditionally, worship was of two kinds: Paramartha Pooja—temple worship for the welfare of the world, and Atmartha Pooja—home worship for personal needs. Temples were never meant for selfish prayers. Penance done only for personal gain has little value. Transforming selfish desires into selfless prayers for world peace not only uplifts humanity but also brings inner peace to the individual.
