The Walk Home is a short story that you'll get through pretty quickly, revolving around a war veteran who decides he is not going to just watch any longer as a school kid is beaten up after he gets off the school bus everyday by three cowardly older kids. Mild spoiler- The ending lets it down a bit as you wonder what is going to happen when the kid gets off the bus the next day. Will his situation be over or worse. But other than that, it's a pretty good short story.
