Fun and Witty But Missing Something
While I enjoyed the fun and witty "wooing game" between Charlotte and James, it seemed as if something was missing from the story. The beginning to me felt as if this book is part of a series and I haven't read any of the others books to that series. At first I couldn't quite figure out who everyone was or why they were together. Further into the story the meddling matchmaking Duke of Danby makes an appearance, but for anyone who has never read any of the numerous stories involving the duke and his relatives (and believe me, there are a lot of those!) I think they would feel lost as to who he is and what he's doing in this story. Perhaps a bit more explanation was needed. But to anyone who is a Danby fan, and of course a Rose Gordon fan, this is an enjoyable quick story to read. I liked it.
Plot was a bit thin
Not a favorite - there didn't seem to be much to the plot or characters. I wanted to like them and be carried away in the story the way I usually am with Gordon, but this didn't have her usual spark. There was some heat towards the end but story seems to end abruptly and the love scene is barely there. Elements of their past together are brought up and then not really used except for a throwaway line. I don't feel like I emotionally understand how they went from barely speaking to in love and I don't feel like there was an emotional journey of the sort I've come to expect from this author.
Read it!!
Great book--is read anything this author writes!! Fun story. Moves fast and has likeable characters!!

So enjoyed the book, wish it was longer....like how you bring laughter to your stories and love the connection to other books connecting them together.
Three Stars
Was a bit disappointed, not sure why perhaps the story line.....hate knowing exactly what's happening next.
