Big Takeaways

Planners love when you don’t have a wedding party! It really makes things so much easier. This is not to say you can’t have, but don’t feel weird about the decision to not.

When you are picking members of the wedding party: - Don’t do things out of obligation

It is important to consider how you are involving meaningful people in your wedding, and that might not be as a member of the party

Being a wedding party is a huge commitment, consider that as well. It is not personal if someone cannot show up or afford to dive in to the more in-depth role

Tell the people you are asking to be in the party exactly what their expectations will be up front. And go from there. Figure out your deal breakers.

How do the people you are considering make you feel?

Someone telling you they can’t or do not want to be in your wedding party should be okay. It’s okay to be sad and disappointed, but you must respect their decision.

Even if you don’t have a wedding party, you can still incorporate your friends on the day of. I.e., makeup and mimosas!
