In the interview, we talk about how to improve employee engagement and why managing with love and improves employee motivation.   We discuss why employees leave companies, and why that is so expensive.

Too often, leaders develop the attitude that turnover is inevitable and unimportant, but nothing can be further from the truth.  Leaders need to lead with love, and doing so will improve the bottom line.

Questions we discussed include:

Why is leadership, as you say, often too ego-driven? Describe what happens to an employee’s mindset when leaders brow-beat or reprimand them? With companies struggling to survive, how can leaders of those companies put people before profits and survive? Why should a leader, as you suggest, lead with love? And how can leaders implement that approach? Do you think that with all the talk over how work environments will become more sensitive to workers as a result of COVID-19, more leaders will be open to softening their approach? In your upcoming book you address the many parallels between our childhood on the playground of life to our adulthood in the boardroom of life. Does the root of this dysfunctional relationship between bosses and employees stem from the anger that leaders and/or employees carry from their deep past?  You worked for large corporations. If you were leading one today, what would your approach be to the employees with times as challenging as they are now? If you could change one thing in business leadership, what would it be?
