Special Weather Statement. The heat waves continues with record warmth away from the immediate coast. Unseasonably hot temperatures will impact Southeast Georgia and Southeast South Carolina again today, including the Charleston and Savannah Metro Areas. Highs are expected to peak in the 100 to 102 degree range away from the coast. Heat of this magnitude, especially so early in the season, could become hazardous if precautions are not taken. Record highs are likely to occur at both the Charleston and Savannah International Airports. Precautionary/preparedness actions. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. DO NOT leave children or pets unattended in a hot vehicle.

Heat Wave: Record to near-record temperatures will continue across the area through Thursday. Heat indices could approach 105 degrees at times and Heat Advisories may be needed. Fire Danger: Low relative humidity and gusty winds in the afternoon along with continued abnormally dry conditions could lead to an enhanced fire danger Tuesday, possibly continuing into late week.
