Heading out for a jog this weekend? Spare a thought for Nick Ashill, because by the time you roll out of bed he will probably have been running 24 hours straight.

The Victoria University marketing professor and ultra-marathon runner is raising money for the Asthma and Respiratory foundation as part of Breathe Better September.

Pretty impressive for a man severely injured in a hit and run in the US four years ago.

He rolled out at 9am Friday, running a 6km loop, and he will not finish up until 9am Saturday.

Lisa Owen caught up with Nick during one of his precious food stops.
