Unceasing Prayer

Listen Later

We’re looking at our third Pillar this Sunday: Unceasing Prayer. And even though our text is just one verse in Ephesians 6:18, there is a lot packed into this verse that we can uncover!
I am going to go out on a limb and say that most of us (hopefully all of us) believe in the power of prayer. More precisely, we believe in the power of the God we pray to; his power is undeniable. Yet, as I’ve shared with you before, and as I have heard many other believers honestly admit, intentional, consistent prayer doesn’t always come as easily as we’d like it to. Which is why we need many steady reminders that are available to us in the Word.
Our family has a sign in our home that reads, “He who kneels the most stands the best.”It’s a saying that we’ve probably all heard repeatedly, and it is exactly what Ephesians 6 shows us. After we put on the whole armour of God…we’re then told to also pray. Because fighting the good fight of faith, on our own and in our strength, is completely pointless if we do not wholly rely on the presence and power of God. So, we need to pray. Unceasingly.
I hope you join us as we open the Word together and are challenged to live out a consistent and dependent life of prayer as true followers of Jesus Christ.

As I live unto God, I ought to pray…
…continually “praying at all times...”
…yieldingly “…in the Spirit...”
THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN I PRAY:
1) His ways are better than mine.
Isaiah 55:8-9
2) He knows things I don’t know.
3) He has it all under control.
Philippians 4:6-7
4) He cares more than I do.
5) He is more patient than I am.
…diligently “…with all prayer and supplication.”
…considerately “To that end, keep alert with all perseverance making supplication for all the saints...”
