"Apocalyptic" coronavirus surges are feared in major United States cities. Coronavirus surges across the United States as 30 states see cases rise. 

The CDC director says that social distancing is "the most powerful tool that we have" to fight the coronavirus.  Coronavirus cases hit record highs in Texas, Florida and California, America's three most populated states. Florida records more than 5,000 new coronavirus cases in a 24-hour period.The Florida governor refuses to issue a mandatory mask order. Miami-Dade County reported a 27 percent positivity rate on Wednesday. A Miami hospital has reported an 108 percent increase in Covid-19 patients. Miami-Dade County is requiring people to wear masks while in public. CDC officials say that coronavirus cases are likely to be ten times higher than that's being reported. A United States government watchdog finds widespread delays in coronavirus response. A United States government watchdog also found more than one million coronavirus stimulus checks were sent to dead people. 

Trump is deeper in denial about coronavirus surge, which leaves a void in national leadership for the United States. After Trump's Tulsa rally, multiple of his campaign staffers are quarantining. Trump downplays need for coronavirus testing, as cases surge.
