The Full Moon / Total Lunar Eclipse that kicks off this week is ALSO the initiator of one of my favorite ritual observances in the Vedic Calendar; Pitru Paksha, the Fortnight of the Ancestors.

Every year during the month of September, the Full Moon initiates the observance of Pitru Paksha; the ancestral fortnight. This specifically follows the WANING phase of the moon, from fullness dissolving into its New Moon state (on Sept 21st)
