The concept of hell is one of the most controversial, challenging, and potentially misunderstood teachings of the Christian faith. In this series we will look at what the Bible actually says and attempt to make sense of it all. This week we looked at what Jesus has to say in the Gospel of Matthew. Specifically, we looked at the context surrounding Jesus's statement in Matthew 10:28 that his disciples should not fear man, but should fear God who has ultimate authority. Additionally, we looked at the fascinating context surrounding Jesus's statement in Matthew 16:18 that he will build his church and the gates of Hades will not prevail.
