Hello everyone and welcome to today’s episode where I had the pleasure of discussing what’s new in pelvic rehab when it comes to Menopause, Cancer & Pelvic Pain.
September is actually awareness month for those three (big!) topics so I was excited to chat with Elise Fraser from the University of Melbourne about the new & exciting research showing the benefits of physio in each of these (sometimes overlapping) spheres
👏👏👏
In this chat, some of the things we discussed:
👉 the variety of symptoms, including pelvic & musculoskeletal, that women experience at menopause and why we need to be there with them, whether/not they’re using hormone therapy
👉 the benefits and dangers of pain neuroscience education in both pelvic pain and menopause
👉 what women want to know about pelvic health challenges during / after cancer treatment, especially breast & gynae cancers (more on this in upcoming podcasts!)
👉 the latest evidence supporting a multimodal physio approach for the management of female pelvic pain (Starzec-Proserpio et al 2024)
💥 💥 💥
This coming week I’ll be uploading a brand new/ updated/ expanded section on pelvic health & rehab at menopause to my online Female Hormonal Health Masterclass - if you’ve already signed up, you’ll see it in your course…and if you haven’t, HURRY UP!! You only have until the end of this month (Sept) to enroll and get evergreen access to the 3 modules: Menstrual, Maternal and Menopausal Health
You can find all the course info at CelebrateMuliebrity.com or in the link on my Instagram michellelyons_muliebrity
You can find Elise on Instagram as @elise_fraser_physio and you’ll see the research we talked about on her Instagram feed
