The Super Serious Film Fest: Fantasy reaches it's thrilling conclusion with a look at 1998's Willow. The brain child of one George Lucas, directed by protege Ron Howard, and starring the delightful Warwick Davis, Willow still struggles to this day to find an audience. It suffers from simultaneously being curiously dark for a family film, but far too simple, uncomplicated, and broad to hold much interest for adults. While it boasted some cutting edge special effects for our day, the best one might be the baby Elora herself, played by a suite of infants. It shouldn't be possible for a baby to be this winsome and charming, but there it is.

It’s a slick episode of Shogun. Mariko, played by Anna Sawai, has been a stand out character since the pilot. In this episode she unleashes her full power and charges full steam ahead into battle. Yabushige is just as psychotic and humorous as before. Would he make a last minute “conversion” to save his own skin? It might be the laugh Jim and A.Ron need after this episode.

Dev Patel stars and makes his directorial debut this year with Monkey Man. This is a stylish movie from the costume design, to the music, to the fights. Jim and A.Ron were fully engrossed in the desperate violence and action that is woven through the story. If you’re a fan of slick action, this is the next movie for you to check out.
