British singer Sarah Brightman, who aspires to sing aboard the International Space Station, is making full preparations for her space journey.

The singer is at the Star City's training center in eastern Moscow. She is braving a series of difficulties in order to make her trip to the Space Station a reality.

Brightman announced her intention to fly to the International Space Station in October 2012, and has reportedly paid up to 50 million U.S. dollars for the plan.

She is expected to fly on Sept. 1 this year. If the 10-day journey comes to fruition, she will become the eighth space tourist and the first professional musician to sing in space.

Sarah Brightman 莎拉•布莱曼 著名英国歌唱家，古典跨界女高音。1981年因饰演音乐剧《猫》进入公众视野；1985年获得格莱美最佳古典女艺人奖；1987年担任著名音乐剧《歌剧魅影》女主角，红遍全球。她是世界上唯一一位在两届奥运会开闭幕式上演唱过奥运会主题曲的女歌唱家（1992年巴塞罗那奥运会和2008年北京奥运会）。

International Space Station n. 国际空间站 简称ISS，一个由六个国际主要太空机构联合推进的国际合作计划。这六个太空机构分别是美国国家航空航天局、俄罗斯联邦航天局、欧洲航天局、日本宇宙航空研究开发机构、加拿大国家航天局和巴西航天局。参与该计划的国家或地区组织共有16个，以美国、俄罗斯为首，中国不在其列。（中国计划于2022年左右建成自己的空间站。）

Star City n. 星城 俄罗斯莫斯科附近的一个城市，航空基地。（星城也是中国湖南省长沙市的别称。）

brave vt. 勇敢面对 很显然，大家对brave的形容词用法很熟悉，但其实它也常用来作及物动词，后面跟difficulty、adversity之类的词，因为困境才需要“勇敢面对”。
