You Can Learn How To Overcome Self-Limiting Beliefs

How can you clear self-limiting beliefs and behaviors to create the life that you desire? Most of you understand that you create your reality. So, everything starts and ends with you. That’s good news. If you create your reality and you can let go of pesky self-limiting beliefs, then the sky is the limit. Now for the bad news: your life runs on your belief systems. You are in charge.

Where Do Your Self-Limiting Beliefs Come From?

You often hear about that small, still voice within you. That voice questions who you are, how you look, and how smart you are. That voice that continuously judges you and directs you. You want to change. You start to make changes but then return to where you were before.

It’s like two different people are living inside of you. Part of you hates the world or some people in it for making you feel less than. You blamed everybody else for the situation you were in. You defined yourself as a victim. And often, you hated yourself for not being the person you felt you should be. At one point, you just gave up. You gave up and quit on yourself. With some of you, the desperation can get to the point of creating a desire within you to self-harm.

Where do these feelings of negative or positive self-worth and self-esteem come from? One answer is that you are a product of your environment. You grew up with the experiences you had, especially from when you were young kids. From birth until about four years old, you are like sponges. You absorb everything. In fact, what you learn in the first four years of your life, outweighs what you do in the rest of your life combined.

So, you are molded and shaped by the environment you grow up in. What you do and experience in life, whether good, bad, or indifferent, are mainly derived from the child’s perspective. That’s why you see generation after generation experiencing the same habits and ideas.

How many times, as you grow, would you say that you will never say or do what a parent says or does? Yet one day, you open my mouth, and your father’s words come out. So, where did that come from? That comes from your environment. And a lot of the habits, values, and beliefs, whether you are religious or socio-economical or whatever you are, come from the environment you grew up in. They are really not yours. They were given to you. In many cases, they are not gifts but do have a tendency to control how you experience life. All these feelings cause limiting beliefs about self-worth.

Overcoming Self-Limiting Beliefs

At some point, most of you have had some form of life-altering experience. You get clarity, and you realize that you are responsible for your life. Not anybody else but you is responsible for the life you had and are living.

At that moment, you make a decision, and you decide that you are going to find out why there are these two people inside of you, the part of you that wants to change and the part of you that drags you right back to where you were before.

You start a new journey of self-worth and self-esteem by working on yourself. You begin studying and reading books, watching videos, speaking with more conscious individuals, and possibly getting therapy.

Changing And Healing Self-Limiting Beliefs

Your belief systems are not set in stone. They are changeable. Altering your conscious and subconscious mind can be accomplished through different healing modalities. Some ways of changing your belief systems include hypnotherapy, NLP (neuro linguistic programming), Silvan Mind Mind Control, and EFT (emotional freedom technique).

The first goal you can work towards is realizing you want more. Recognize that there is so much of life you may have missed out on, but that is changeable. Then, that little voice will change to a positive state, or at least, that is the goal. One thing that becomes evident is that your thoughts actually do create your reality. And that is true for both positive and negative thoughts, so why not choose the positive?

As you move toward these changes, you will notice events, books, and even people coming into your life to help fit those puzzle pieces into their correct spots.

The Search For Happiness And Controlling Self-Limiting Beliefs Through Meditation

Well, most people have those two voices inside of them. You have the person inside of you who wants to live this glorious, wonderful life and live the life of your dreams. But every time you start to reach out for it, there’s that little other person inside of you that says, “Wait a minute. That’s not who you are. You don’t want to do this. That’s dangerous. You can’t do that. Oh, that. you are going to get a lot of trouble. You better stay where you are now.” And so what happens is, one of two things is you start to make progress on what you are trying to accomplish, and then that other voice sucks them back in, or it just doesn’t let them start at all.

Well, you are both. What happens is that the part of you that wants to keep you where you are may be in pain or misery. You are creatures of familiarity, and you like to do what you are familiar with, even if it’s something terrible. You would instead decide to choose something you are familiar with than do something different. The old saying that man’s greatest need is survival is not valid. A very famous psychiatrist, Virginia Satir, said that man’s greatest need is familiarity because you will choose a habit that you are familiar with, even if it will kill you. So unless you become awake and aware of your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions, and your habits, it’s very hard for you to step out of that automatic response you have to change in your life.

One thing many of you forget is that you are more than your human entity. You are Spirit, and Spirit is part of God, The Universe, whatever you may call that great source energy or higher being. This is the real you. And this part of you is all-powerful. So how do you access it?

Different Self-Limiting Belief Healing Modalities

Different modalities work for different people. Finding the one that works the best for you is a personal journey. However, most of these modalities have a lot of commonalities, and the main commonality is that they all found a way to access the subconscious mind.

You would think that you do almost everything consciously, but the reality is that scientists have taught us that about 85 to 90% of what you do is at a subconscious or an unconscious level, and very little of what you do is conscious. So, really, all change takes place in the subconscious mind. And it’s really not that hard to access the subconscious mind. However, it’s important what you do with it once you access it, and that’s what makes a difference. Hypnosis is a very popular healing modality.

How Does Hypnosis Work On The Brain

Hypnosis is not as woo-woo as people think. It’s just giving your subconscious an alternate way of doing something. Just give it the choice of doing it in a different way. The hypnotic state of mind is a natural state of mind. You are in and out of a hypnotic state all day long. For example, how many people drive to work the same way back and forth every day? And half of the time, you don’t remember driving to work. You drove there. You didn’t kill anybody. You follow the rules of the road, but you really don’t have any conscious recollection of getting there. Another example of hypnosis is getting engrossed in a movie in a movie theater. If it’s a great movie, all of a sudden, the entire world fades away in the background, and you become part of the movie. A couple of hours go by, and the movie ends, and it seems like only a few minutes have passed. This is a form of a hypnotic state and is a natural state of mind. The challenge is taking control of it and using it for the hypnosis benefits.

Some of you may have a slightly different perspective on the driving from A to B example and not be conscious of what’s happening. You feel that you are actually not present in your body and not grounded in your body. This perspective is once more that you are spiritual consciousness, and your physical body is your vehicle. So, the idea of becoming awake and aware is to be present in your body. And a lot of the time, people are not present in their bodies, i.e., Googling something and being lost for three hours or that classic journey to work. Many people are not awake, aware, and present most of the time. You are not consciously directing their life. You are on autopilot.

The First Step To Changing Your Self-Limiting Beliefs

So, the idea of changing a belief is to become aware of what you are thinking, where it comes from, and whether it is really yours. What’s important is to understand that unless you are awake and aware of your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions, and your actions, it’s really hard to change them. So, becoming aware of them allows you to take control of them. The moment you become more awake and aware of any feelings and thoughts, they become just thoughts. You, as a human being, have the ability to dismiss a thought or change a thought, but if you are not aware of what you are doing, you will continue to act out what you have learned from your past programming. Yes, programming. You have all heard the phrase, garbage in, garbage out.

How Does Hypnosis And Self-Hypnosis Work?

One of the modalities for a healing change in your belief system is hypnosis. You are conditioned to act or feel in a particular manner to specific triggers. These are your beliefs. You believe that you must do A when confronted with B. So how do you stop this behavior? Simple. You change the response.

Yes, that sounds way too easy, and in truth, it is not necessarily so, but it is simple. For example, you eat out every day at the same restaurant. This is a habit. You have done it forever. One day, a new deli counter opens up next door to your regular haunt. One day, you notice how busy it is in the new lunch bar, so you go in and give it a try. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Well, your belief that the only place you are to eat lunch is in that original restaurant is gone.

This is the basis of hypnosis and almost any other therapeutic type of healing around belief systems. The central concept is to give your subconscious a different choice and the understanding that it is okay to choose that new alternative. Once you grasp this concept, belief systems will lose their magic hold on you, and then it will just become practice and training. Easy, not necessarily. Simple definitley.

Connecting with your higher self through meditation can also affect this type of change because your Spirit can produce this change within you. Your energy changes. Your habits change. Your actions change, and their outcomes change.
