Today we had a special guest, Dr. Stan Tatkin, author of Wired For Love, and founder of Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT).. PACT a fusion of attachment theory, developmental neuroscience, and arousal regulation, PACT is quickly gaining a reputation for effectively treating couples formerly thought of as untreatable. As we ENCODE our self esteem into the fiber of our Being, it is important for us to enter relationships that are safe and know how to attune to our feelings. All of us have areas where we feel "less than." In a relationship "couple bubble" as Dr. Tatkin talks about, couples have an owner's manual on each other and learn to create emotional safety within this special union. Couples who are safe know how to protect each other from the harsh realities of the outer world. When we pick a partner to bond with, we must ensure that there are no "deal breakers." Obvious ones are ethical violations of a relationship, such as cheating, or being out of integrity in any way. Short of that, couples can learn to navigate their individual styles and agree to form a WE that works synergistically. By learning how our partners are wired and how their brain works, we can attune to them and ensure that they will be safe within the relationship. Today we SHRUNK THE TUNE Self Esteem by Offspring.
