Our self talk is a function of our core belief about ourselves. Our core belief about ourselves is a function of how we were treated or mistreated particularly during the early formative years of the first 2-3 years of our life. We form a core sense of self based on how our primary caregiver cared, or didn't care for us. When we are touched, consistently connected with, and unconditionally loved, and emotionally attuned to, we form a health core sense of self. Evidence that we are reacting to our negative core belief is our negative self talk. The solution? We have to tear down the old perceptual lies that built this false sense of self, and "recode" healthier messages. It's not just a matter of self affirmations, it's a matter of expressing the repressed feelings behind our negative core beliefs so we can dismantle them once and for all!
