Thirteen-year-old Nika Selivanova
Made a heart with both her hands,
Waving goodbye to her best friend Inna
Who was pressed against the glass partition that divided
The entrance hall of Kherson's train station from the waiting area.
As the train pulled out of the station,
Nika's heart filled with emotion,
For she knew that she and Inna

But though their physical distance grew,
Their bond remained strong and true,
For they had shared countless memories
And a love that nothing could diminish.
So as the train disappeared from sight,
Nika held her heart shape tight,
Vowing to stay true to her friend
Until they were reunited once again.
