001 Developing a Good Work Ethic

Listen Later

Episode #1 | Developing a Good Work Ethic
Developing a good work ethic will set you apart from the rest of the pack.  Always seek to put more in to your ministry than you take out.
If you act like a leader, you'll get treated like a leader!
To last for the long-haul, you need to develop a good work ethic.
Characteristics of a Good Work Ethic:
1. Initiative - you have to see yourself beyond where you are at today.  That's not looking for the BBD, it's being a self-starter.
No one will hand you everything you want without work…If you do, it won't last.  You won't appreciate the journey.
Find people who are farther down the road than you. Observe what they do.
Don't let pride get in the way…ask questions.
2. Responsibility - This is the promise to do what you signed up for. It’s more than just saying it – commitment is the belief you have in yourself and in you ability to do the work. It’s also the courage to allocate the resources needed to make it happen.
3. Determination - This is what gives you the power to follow through on your commitments. It is the persistence to keep doing what you said you’d do – even if you don’t feel like it on the day.
5 practical steps you can take:
1. Arrive to work on time.
Don't develop a reputation of arriving 45 minutes after you said you would.
Be early for sound checks and rehearsals.
Be prepared.
2. Be a man or woman of your word.  When you say something, follow through with it.
3. Produce excellent work.  People will notice! If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.
4. Ask for feedback. Give certain people access to speak into your life.
5. Be a team player.  If you think you're too good for doing a certain task…chances are that you are no good.
