These questions are asked simply to get the owner/manager to begin thinking honestly and intently on developing the leadership skills, qualities and abilities of his/her current leadership position. They are not designed to bring embarrassment or criticism.
What is the current leader’s (or if you are the only leader, answer this for yourself) knowledge and proficiency level in these identified skills from question one?
The best way I have found is to use a numerical scale to evaluate the leaders performance in each skill level. I normally would use a 5 point scale (1-5). Where one (1) equates to “does not perform well” in a category and five (5) is equivalent to “Excellent.” Using this scale, three (3) would be “average.”
