Over 40% of trans and gender diverse individuals have reported attempting suicide due to the discrimination, stigma and systemic barriers that have been place on them. 

Over 90% of suicide attempts happen within the waiting period for access of timely trans affirming care. 

In my second episode I had an informative conversation with Anna Murphy about the Transgender and LGBTQ2S+ community. 

Anna helped to shed light onto: 

-defining gender diverse vs. transgender 

-what ignited her passion towards helping transgender youth and her involvement within the LGBTQ2S+ community

-gender-affirming surgery

-her hopes for the transgender community in the future 

-the important role the “ally” community plays for the LGBTQ2S+ community

-how Anna hopes to create a seat at the table for not only women, but also diverse women in politics 

-the diverse and inclusive culture that is prominent within Calgary, Alberta, and even Canada!
