Pam Jordan is an unapologetically candid speaker and business strategist who empowers entrepreneurs to gain freedom by working on their business instead of in it. She helps businesses that grow rapidly get their finances untangled and break through to the next level. Pam built Pivot Business Group out of the desire to make sure owners get to their destination, whatever that may be. Pam helps owners peek under the hood, check the fluids, and do other car analogy things (she’s a CFO, not a mechanic!), all while she helps them build the legacy.
Pam has spent over 15 years working in corporate finance, but it took losing her job and watching a business go up in flames before she realized she wanted to put out fires, not go down with them.
Also, she has this thing about getting her own airplane. As entrepreneurs, she recognizes we’re working to make things happen, trying to get from point A to point B. This means our plates fill up fast. Who has the time to check to make sure the engine (aka financials) is running the way it’s supposed to? If you’re still moving, it’s fine, right?
Pam and I begin our conversation with how she started Pivot Business Group and stories of how she’s helped her clients. Pam also shares how her approach differs from other accounting firms, mainly that she’s a lot more fun. We talk about the emotions that come attached to finances, what her favorite business is out of the five (yes, five) she runs, and how she stays focused when new, shiny objects come her way. We wrap things up with lessons Pam’s learned throughout her career and tips for new entrepreneurs.
