What is a stimulus package?
A stimulus package is a package of economic measures put together by a government to stimulate a sluggish economy.
So, as part of those economic measures FM has introduced a stimulus package of 20 lakh crore which will be used to save the country from a full-blown economic crisis.
Indian economy had been experiencing slowdown even before COVID hit the country. We had seen seven successive quarters of declining GDP growth because of lower consummation demand. Consumer spending in India declined for the first time in more than 40 years in 2017.
