In 1910 the Waverly Sanatorium opened its doors in southwestern Kentucky. Over the next 51 years it saw the worst of the tuberculosis crisis in America. It's troubled past included experimental procedures on unwilling patients and horrific body mutilation in order to find a cure for the terrible disease.
