You smell and your toes violate health codes, but we'll take you. Think about it. Where else but in the restaurant industry can you get a job if you're an ex con, a drug dealer, an addict or on probation? Or if you've never heard the word "hygiene". Or, dare we say (shhhh) you're "undocumented"? Walk right in with your jeans lower than your ass, with your knock-off Tommy Hilfiger boxers exposed and we'll hire you. Yes, the restaurant industry is the one industry that takes in people with absolutely no skills - except for the skill of wanting to make a buck. And for those that say the industry is racist? Yeh it is. But it's not nearly as racist as the industry you work in. Just ask yourself, what would happen if any of the above-mentioned undesirables walked into your law office, accounting firm or high end retailer to apply for a job? You know what would happen. You'd call security on speed-dial. On this episode of Tip Not Included, Host Eric Levine points out the hypocrisy in hiring (and in our overall society) and raises important questions like who should we really be scared of? The Central American porter cleaning toilets and grease traps for minimum wage, or the angry disenchanted hate-filled misinformed white kid who has a gun permit? Plus, as Levine illustrates, white is really the new Muslim. Perhaps immigration isn't our biggest issue. Maybe we should stop worrying about the mosque and start worrying about the Abercrombie & Fitch. Contact Eric Levine at:
