INTERVIEW
Altus Project co-founder Lee M Kelsall caught up with Denney earlier to find out what's been happening since Jamie Jones & Lee Foss signed him.
LEE M KELSALL: We are really excited to have you in our new Podcast Series . You have been smashing it recently and came out of nowhere in 2012 with some great releases, what big things can we expect from you over the coming months?
DENNEY: Thanks very much, i really enjoyed putting it together! The next few months are looking extremely busy gig wise which is great, then also have some very exciting projects coming up in the studio. I have just finished a track with Mel Blatt on vocals, that i'm extremely happy with. Then i have collaborations planned with Miguel Campbell, Waifs & Strays, Mark Jenkyns & PBR Streetgang as well as my own original material and remixes. Im also starting my Back to Basics residency in Leeds with Laura Jones in March which i can't wait for.
LEE M KELSALL: Burning Man Festival tickets went on sale this week ... Twiggy from Altus is going to be flying the Sydney flag this year, Ive watched some of the amazing highlights online and seen that you played last year with the Hot Creations Camp .....Firsty are you going this yr ??? and what do you think are the big sounds coming out from the artists that are taking parts...will their be a change in house music this year?
DENNEY: Yes absolutely i'm going, to be honest it will take a lot for me not to go every year now. It would take me a week to write about Burning Man and it wouldn't do it justice! I have never been anywhere like it before, its pure heaven on earth, the vibe, the people, everywhere you look is something made with love and warmth.
Musically everyone can experiment a bit more as you are in the middle of the desert and everyone is on such a natural high anyway.
House music doesn't really change it develops i think, then a certain sound becomes big and then drops back down, i think as a producer you can never become complacent and never stop learning, so your records will always add more depth and creativity than the last.
LEE M KELSALL: A little rumour is that you might be venturing over Australia on Tour end of 2013, what can a crowd expect from a Denney set?
DENNEY: Yes i can't wait! They can expect a proper acid house party with a few twists and turns thrown in for good measure.
LEE M KELSALL: What is the one track that really gets the crowd going ...the tune of choice for the start of 2013?
DENNEY: Tricky question as there really is so much great music around but i'm going to say one by my good friends Waifs & Strays called "I Saw Yo Girl" which is actually on the podcast.
