For the Love of WritingAlyssa has been working at ESPN for 13 years. She did a couple of writing jobs before joining the company. She studied journalism at the University of Florida.
Journalism and storytelling filled her life. She attended writing camps as a child.
A Captivating CraftAs a child, Alyssa just wanted to write and tell stories. She did not even know journalism was a job. She loved stories so much, and could read chapter books as a child.
Growing up, she wanted to write nonfiction. She recalls reading In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. She was captivated by how a writer could devote his life to tell one story and present it beautifully.
Dreams Turned into RealityShe once dreamed of becoming a sports agent. She became part of their school publication, and started covering high school football.
Alyssa was in her junior year when ESPN launched their magazine. She fell in love with the contents. Eventually, she got the idea of working for them.
