005 How to Win an Argument in any Language

Listen Later

Have you ever been having a discussion with someone and even though you feel that you're right, somehow you seem to be losing the argument? The other person has said something wrong, you're sure of it, but you can't say exactly what the mistake is. The chances are that the other person has used a fallacy. A fallacy is a kind of error or mistake in reasoning and it takes some skill to recognise these fallacies and avoid them when they are used in an argument.

In this week's episode, I am going to explain in more detail some examples of common fallacies. The concepts and their explanations might seem difficult to understand, but with plenty of examples, I am sure that you'll understand them. Plus, if you memorise each of these, you'll be much more likely to win an argument in English or any language.

This podcast is for people who already have some understanding of English, but who want to learn in context, make progress, and communicate with other English speakers without having to read boring grammar books.
