Whew! The past couple of weeks has been hard with my son gone to visit his dad. It's quiet in my house and I have been alone with my thoughts... which can be terrifying. But it's also been a great reminder about how important it is to do some real self care.
Not the trendy kind where you take bubble baths and long strolls through Target to solve your problems - but the real kind, where you dig deep and try to heal.
It's not easy but it is so important to do and, in reality, self care is truly messy. Learning to love and care for yourself after you have had a traumatic experience is hard.
One way I have overcome a lot is by learning my Enneagram personality type. I know these things can be controversial but learning this has done so much for me in understanding who I am and why I operate in the way that I do. Because I have learned these personality traits I can recognize the positives, learn to adjust the negatives, and use this information to heal when moving forward.
It's not perfect, and never will be, but it's so necessary to do the work to move forward and grow.
